School Sport Partnerships and PLTs

SSCOsThe ARA has produced guidance and resources to help and support School Sport Partnerships, their staff and volunteers.

How does the ARA promote increased participation and make sure that rowing activity is high quality?

We recommend that schools link with Clubmark accredited clubs. Our Club Finder lists clubs that have achieved Clubmark or see our Clubmark section.

We recommend that any school delivering indoor rowing should become accredited to PESSYP standards to ensure they are meeting the recommendations of the DfES and QCA.

A range of ARA written materials and other resources are available to help schools meet and exceed these standards.  More information about these is available in this and the ARA Publications section.

What about primary age children?

Primary age children are best introduced to both land and water rowing through specifically designed multi skill physical activity programmes.

What professional support is available for SSCOs and PDMs?

Wherever possible we offer support through our community sports coaches, coaching development officers (CDOs) and talent development staff.  To find the ARA's CDO or Team Leader for your area go to our contacts page.
