What would you like to do?
If have any questions about membership please email your query to membership@ara-rowing.org
Returning and Renewing Members
Direct Debit payers should not renew online but can enjoy all the other benefits of the online facility.
If you already have an online account go to the yellow 'login' button on the right hand side of the page and enter your username and password. There is a password wizard should you need it. Then click on the 'account' button below that.
To renew your membership click on the link to renew which you will see on this personalised welcome page.
You can renew up to nine weeks early with no penalty to membership time/cost. Whenever you want to access your account you should login and enter your username and password. You can then check or amend your personal and membership details.
If you don't yet have an online account but have had membership in the past we probably have your details on our database with an account already attached to your membership - it simply needs to be activated. To do this you will need your activation code which can be found:
- on your membership renewal notice
- on your membership card letter
- by emailing membership giving your full name and date of birth
Activating your account
- go to www.oara.org.uk/activate and enter the eight letter code and your date of birth
- complete the personal details form, choosing your own username and password
- enter your email address
- click on the link in the email you will receive or cut and paste it into the address bar
- enter the username and password you had previously chosen and the unique number from the email
- Click on the yellow 'Account' button on the right hand side of the screen
This is the final step in the activation process. You will not need activation codes or unique numbers again! All you need do in future is login following the steps above.
Joining for the first time or returning after a long gap
Some members’ records were archived in 2000. If you are returning after a long gap please email membership to check if we still have your details before creating a new record.
If you are joining for the first time or we have archived your record you need to create a free user account first.
If you are over 16 years old on 1st January of the current year click on the yellow 'Join' button (right hand side of screen), select option 3 and then:
- complete the personal details form, choosing your own username and password
- enter your email address
- click on the link in the email you will receive or cut and paste it into the address bar
- enter your username, password and the unique number from the email
- you will see a yellow 'Account' button on the right hand side of the screen

- click on the link further down the page to purchase your membership
If you are under 16 years old on 1st January of the current year we need the consent of your parent/guardian before we can store information about you on our database. The ARA has worked with the Child Protection in Sport Unit (part of the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) to develop a system for gaining parental/guardian permission for U16s to signup for a 'free online User Account' and, if they wish, proceed to ARA membership.
If you are under 14 on 1st January of the current year you still need to register but your membership is free for the first year. You should follow these steps:
- go to www.ara-rowing.org/u16signup
- enter your own first name, surname, date of birth, email address, parent/guardian's name, parent/guardian's email address
- you will receive an email from oara@ara-rowing.org advising that the ARA requires your parent/guardian's permission before the account can be set up
- your parent/guardian will receive an email from oara@ara-rowing.org asking them to click on a link which goes to an encrypted 'approval page' on the ARA website
- your parent/guardian can then view the account, edit the details submitted and approve the account or withhold permission
- you will receive an email from oara@ara-rowing.org informing you of your parent/guardian's decision. If permission has been granted you will be invited to signup and complete the free user account process
If approval is granted proceed as follows:
- click on the link in the email
- complete the personal details form, choosing your own username and password
- enter your email address
- on completion, you will receive an email giving you a unique number and a link to our website, click on the link or cut and paste it into the address bar
- enter your username, password and the unique number from the email
- click on the yellow 'Account' button on the right hand side of the page and you will receive a personalised welcome to your username
- click on the link further down the page to purchase/create your membership
Once membership has been processed you will be sent your membership number by automated email and your membership card will be posted to you by first class post on the next working day.
If permission has been withheld you will be thanked for your interest and not invited to proceed. Your parent/guardian will receive a copy of this email.
