Alice Freeman

Alice was selected for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games as one of the spares and was brought into the women's eight for the final where the boat finished 5th.  

Alice was one of GB's rowing 'finds' in 2007 gaining her first GB vest in which she was selected for the women's eight, she then won a bronze medal at the World Rowing Championships in Munich. The following month she won bronze, again in the women's eight, at the European Rowing Championships in Poznan. She raced in the eight in the 2008 World Cup series, finishing 5th and 6th.

Alice started rowing at Hatfield College in Durham and rapidly moved on to the University Club.

After graduating from university she had two years away from rowing whilst she travelled and worked in South Africa. She then started a PGCE at Oxford University and rowed in the Oxford winning Blue Boat in 2004. She rowed with Oxford University women's squad for two years before moving to Wallingford Rowing Club to learn to scull.

Alice has taken time out from her career as a maths teacher to prepare for the Olympics.
